The Art of Rest
Rest is not falling behind. This week we make room for slower days, a softer landing at home, and the memories that only happen when we stop working toward something.
From My Home to Yours
This week, I'm choosing to remember that building a future for my daughter also means being present for her childhood.
I want to build businesses. I want to build homes. I want to build opportunities. I want to build a nonprofit that serves people. I have big dreams.
But I don't want to become so focused on building the life I dream about that I forget to live the life I already have.
So this week, I'm slowing down. I'm resting. I'm dreaming. I'm working on the things that don't always happen on a cleaning schedule. And I'm making memories with my girl.
Because sometimes the most productive thing we can do is remember why we're working so hard in the first place.
I worked hard for this season. And I'm allowed to enjoy it.

Feature Story
The Art of Rest
There is something beautiful about stepping away. This week, many families are packing suitcases, driving to new places, visiting family, or simply taking a few slower days at home.
I think we should talk about what happens when we allow ourselves to actually rest. Rest can feel uncomfortable when you are someone with a lot of dreams. I know that feeling personally. I have so many things I want to build — so many ideas for Chavez & Company, so many dreams for the families we serve, and beyond the business, something even bigger through the nonprofit work that is close to my heart.
There is always another idea. Another phone call. Another thing to organize. Another goal to chase. But this week, I am intentionally stepping away from the physical work and giving myself space for the work that happens behind the scenes — growing the business, developing the vision, and working on the nonprofit. And, most importantly, spending time with my daughter. Because I have a lot of dreams, but I also have a little girl I love spending time with. And she is part of the reason I dream so big in the first place.
“Rest is not falling behind. It is recognizing that you are a person before you are a worker.”
Sometimes we treat rest like a reward we earn after we've accomplished everything. But there will always be something else to accomplish. Rest isn't quitting. Rest isn't laziness. And rest certainly doesn't mean we've lost our ambition. Sometimes rest is what allows us to see the bigger picture. Your family doesn't only need what you can produce. They need you — your attention, your laughter, your presence, your patience, your memories.
I am learning that rest is not a reward. It is part of the work. I am learning that building something meaningful does not mean I have to carry every piece of it. And I am learning that the best thing I can offer my daughter, my team, and the families we serve is a version of me that is not running on empty.
Around the Dinner Table
If your family is traveling this week, take a few minutes to ask these. Sometimes the conversations our children remember aren't the big ones — they're the little ones around the table, in the car, on vacation, or before bed.
What is something you want to remember from this season of our lives?
If you could plan one perfect day with our family, what would we do?
What is something you hope we always make time for, no matter how busy life gets?
Small Habit, Big Difference
A Softer Landing: The Pre-Vacation Reset
“Because coming home should feel good, too.”
Before leaving for vacation, don't try to make your entire house perfect. Instead, focus on the areas that will make coming home easier.
Empty the refrigerator of anything that will spoil. Take out the trash. Run the dishwasher. Wash the towels. Make the beds. Do one quick reset of the main living spaces.
You don't need to deep clean your entire home before leaving. You just want to give your future self a softer landing.
Weekend Reset
Seven things, and nothing more.
- Notice what your body and your family are asking for
- Maybe you need a vacation
- Maybe you need an afternoon without a schedule
- Maybe you need to put your phone away and play with your kids
- Maybe you need a long night of sleep
- Maybe you need to sit outside with a cup of coffee
- Maybe you simply need permission to do less
- Notice it. Care for it. Give yourself some relief.
Quote of the Week
“Be still, and know that I am God. — Psalm 46:10”
There is power in stillness. Not everything needs to be figured out today. Not every dream needs to be accomplished today. Some things grow while we rest. Some ideas become clearer when we stop forcing them. Some of the most important moments of our lives happen when we're not working toward anything at all.
Chavez & Company
“Our mission has never been simply to clean homes. We exist to give families back their time, reduce stress, and create space for what matters most.”
Community
We serve the families around us like neighbors, because that's what we are.
Consistency
The same care, the same standard, every single visit.
Care
Every home is treated like someone lives there — because someone does.
This week's E Standard: Notice. Care. Relief. — for your home, and for yourself.
From Our Week

This week, give yourself permission to rest.
The laundry will still be there. The emails will still be there. The goals will still be there. The dreams will still be there. But this moment won't. Go make the memory.
